Introducing TravellingBooks
TravellingBooks is a new app designed for bookcrossing. The aim of the app is to connect readers from around the globe, fostering a community of individuals who share a passion for reading. It is an easy-to-use platform that allows users to track, share, and swap books while engaging with a global network. The app was founded by Rickard Prieto, a passionate reader and traveler who was inspired by the simple joy of sharing books across borders.
With TravellingBooks, users can search for new reading material, give away books they have enjoyed, and keep track of their exchanges. With just a few clicks, users can embark on their book-sharing journey and even follow the books they have shared to see where they have traveled—whether just a few miles away or to the other side of the world. Additionally, users can view the books that have traveled the most worldwide.
How the Idea Was Born
“First and foremost, we love reading. One of the main things we do after finishing a book we truly enjoyed is share the title, details, and even the book itself with friends and family, so they can also experience it. We thought, why not make this exchange easier for people and connect them on a global scale? The idea came to me during my honeymoon in Costa Rica, where my wife and I discovered a book with a dedication on the first page.
The original owner expressed a hope that someone would receive the book, read it, and enjoy it as much as he did. We began reading the book, but we didn’t finish it during our holiday, so we decided to bring it with us, and it traveled all the way to Europe. We were amazed at how far that book had traveled: originally from Europe, arriving in Costa Rica, and then flying back to Europe, but to a different country.
This was indeed the first TravelingBook.”
