This report reviews the causes of and factors affecting foodborne
disease in Australia and identifies gaps in current knowledge;
develops guidelines for national surveillance of foodborne disease
and linkage of this information to other health intelligence relating
to foodborne illness; develops national strategies for reducing
foodborne disease; and makes recommendations on the implementation
and evaluation of the proposed guidelines and strategies.
